MAGNIFICENT MEDIEVAL RENAISSANCE GARMENT
SHAKESPEARE / MACBETH / RICHARD II / OTHELLO STYLE
This is a MAGNIFICENT Garment or Cloak we are offering! It is done in a beautiful but very heavy burgundy cotton canvas and has a half or short cape over the shoulders. There are long burnt orange velvet sleeves underneath which are gathered at the shoulders and cuffs so they are EXTREMELY FULL. The velvet is worn though as it is pretty old. The cloak, or robe, fastens with large hooks and eyes down the front. There is a brown velvet sash around the yoke and also there are tasseled epaulets on each shoulder - I am showing a close up of it. It also has a white pleated, ruffled collar. The robe is fully lined - the yoke is lined with a black satin or soft cotton; the robe is lined in burgundy and the sleeves are lined in a pretty substantial cream cotton. This garment has a Western Costume Company stamp.
NOTE: This magnificent robe was originally a burgundy velvet, but the nap was removed most likely to be able to re-use in another production.
There is wear at the back hem and the orange velvet is worn due to age and wear.
