Folger Shakespeare Library Quote Plate “Let’s Kill All the Lawyers” Stoneware

Description

This glazed stoneware plate or platter features the following quote, written in gray-blue cursive script in the middle of the plate:
“
The first thing we do,
let's kill all the lawyers
.”
At the top near the rim the name ‘Shakespeare’ appears, and at the bottom it reads: ‘II Henry VI’. Two instances of flowering vines decorate the rim.
The words “The Folger Library” are shallowly etched into the unglazed bottom of the plate, as is what appears to be the stylized letters “S” and “K” in the center, presumably the artist’s initials.
The plate is approximately 11 1/2 inches in diameter with a 1 1/4 inch height. It is in beautiful condition with no cracks or chips or repairs.
The plate is undated. The Folger Library gift shop spokesperson who we recently contacted was unfamiliar with the plate and did not know when it was made, how long it was offered for sale, or who the artist might have been.
