    Description

    Here we have an absolutely stunning small dish or saucer decorated with a marbled agate glaze.
    This is a set of 4 plates being sold individually.
    These are lighter in color than the preceding plate being sold.
    The brown, black, blue and cream agate decoration is applied to both sides.
    Any white spots in the photos are light reflections from the very shiny clear glaze.
    The plate measures 5 ½” in diameter and is in original mint condition with no damage or repairs
    A similar dish is shown and described in Jonathan Rickard’s definitive book “MOCHA and related dipped wares, 1770-1939” on page 116.  He attributes these to a British potter, circa 1775.
    These marbled agate dishes are extremely rare and any advanced collector would be pleased to add these to their collection.
