Ellie Reeves, an early resident, said, "A man named Schwartz came to Mineola and opened its first saloon." Through the 1870s, 1880s and 1890s, the establishments in town included Blasingame's, Little Abe's, **

came to America
from Russia. He was born in 1863 and immigrated to New York City in 1882. By 1894 he was in Texas, where he married Minnie of Mineola. Minnie of Mineola didn’t even have to change her maiden name: She was the daughter of Jesse and Miriam Joseph of Germany. Minnie, born in 1869, had immigrated to America in 1886.
In Mineola Minnie and Samuel operated a saloon.
Condition: Good condition, with wear commensurate with age. No repairs to the piece. Handle shows signs of wear from age & use, as does one shoulder - see final photo for chips to shoulder loop
