    Description

Here's a cup you can match with your orphan saucer. Gilding always looks “gildier” on top of a deep cobalt blue ground, and flowers always look more colorful against a white background, so this cup has everything. It is decorated in Spode’s pattern number 1709, which closely resembles a couple of patterns made by Minton and a later pattern by Ridgway. There’s also a marine aspect to the design, since seaweed and large shells are outlined in gilt between the white cartouches that hold the flower bouquets. Condition is excellent, except for some light gilt wear. No damage. I also have some cups with damage. Ask about them if you're a fanatic for this pattern.
