Screen-Worn Parody Cosplay Costume — Catsuit / Cape / Cowl, with additional utility-belt & gloves.
This classic 1966-style purple catsuit, cape, and cowl costume was screen-worn by actress
Sunny Lane
as character
Batgirl
in the 2012 parody film
Batgirl ___
. Sunny wears the iconic costume in multiple scenes throughout the film, as her character
Barbara Gordon
grows into the role of costumed crimefighter
Batgirl
and assists Batman and Robin in fighting Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, a female Joker, and other villains. In addition to the catsuit, the cape, and the cowl which were all screen-worn by
Sunny Lane
, this lot includes Robin's screen-worn utility belt, and also a pair of gloves from an unknown character (used in production of either this movie, or another of the production company's parody films), to complete the costume for display. This
Batgirl
parody film was later repackaged with the same production company's
Supergirl
spoof
--in which
Sunny Lane
also played the character of
Barbara Gordon
--
with a new cover and title,
Batgirl v. Supergirl
, to capitalize on the release of Zack Snyder's
Batman v. Superman
. (One of the costumes worn by
Alanah Rae
as
Supergirl
in promotional photographs for that parody film, is also currently being offered for sale, in one of my other auctions.)
When the production company sold off its costume inventory 6+ years ago, elements of many of these costumes had been reused onscreen in multiple parody films, so unfortunately the original
Batgirl
utility belt and gloves ended up elsewhere. The Robin utility belt included here in its place, was likewise used in multiple parody films--the custom-applied black paint matches it to use in
Batgirl ___
,
Justice League of ____star Heroes
(opposite Chanel Preston as Wonder Woman), and possibly elsewhere. I haven't tried to identify where the gloves were used, but they weren't either
Batgirl
's or Robin's in any of the company's productions, as far as I've seen. These costumes passed through a California store well-known for studio-surplus wardrobe, before being resold on eBay. Included is the COA from the eBay reseller this was purchased through 6+ years ago.
This costume is based on a "Grand Heritage" 1966-style
Batgirl
costume; but, the chest emblem is custom-made and easily screen-matches (by stitching & other elements) this as being the one worn by
Sunny Lane
. It remains in overall excellent screen-used condition, with some minor sweat stains inside despite cleaning. The cowl is likewise custom-modified with a hard inner shell lining to keep its shape, and despite cleaning it retains a few small spots which attest to its use onscreen; it's in very good screen-used condition, noting those small spots. The cape has been modified by production with a better closure than is typical for unmodified costumes, and remains in excellent screen-used condition, with some minor creasing which could be easily steamed out.

's screen-worn
