This is a Rare and beautiful antique 4 Gallon Stoneware Advertising Jug, from DETROIT, MICH. The advertising on the front reads, Old Kentucky Whiskey Co. LTD. WHOLESALE LIQUOR DEALERS 34 CADILAC SQUARE, DETROIT, MICH. THIS JUG MUST BE RETURNED. This fantastic old jug was made in 1890 /1900, it is expertly hand thrown and salt glazed. It is a gray / beige color on the bottom and a Albany brown glaze on the top and inside. I was told this jug was made by the RED WING POTTERY Co?, the lettering is a nice Cobalt blue and easy to read. It is in excellent condition for it's age, with only a few very small chips, the spout and the strong applied handle are perfect. There are no repairs, no damage and it still has a nice gloss finish and a beautiful patina on it. The measurements are 17 1/2" tall x  10" wide and weighs about 12 Lbs.
