with this  modified "slip in" upgrade to any 20 ton shop press.  An easy
replacement
(designed to slip in without tools) for outdated hand pump rams that require tedious pumping for painfully slow ram advance.
Our older imported 20 ton shop press was a pretty crude affair until we replaced the standard manual ram with a modern air over hydraulic ram resulting in a really great shop tool that saves a lot of time and is a pleasure to use.
Use shop air to quickly advance press ram to workpiece.  Continue our "Easy Air Feature" up to 20 ton ram force (depending on shop air pressure) or switch to hand pump for better "feel".
Ram assembly stands 10-1/4" high and has a stroke of over 6-1/2".  Rubber air hose is 48" long with a hand operated (could be hard mounted) control valve. The odd import air inlet is replace with a common American 1/4" 18npt air inlet.  You may need to screw in a male nipple compatible with your shop air lines.  Working pressure is from 120 to 200psi air pressure.  We run 150psi in the shop that gives us rapid ram advance up to 15 tons (or less) and hand pump when "feel" and more pressure up to 40,000 pounds is required.
Before we ship your air over hydraulic ram, we inspect and bleed air from the ram.  We add the recommended amount of air tool oil and advance the ram to its maximum extension and check for leaks prior to packing for shipment to you.  We have had one leaker but it was caught before we shipped it.  Overall, quality has been good.  Your ram will be ready to use when it arrives.
Our 7” X 7” X .75” ALLOY STEEL (Precision CNC cut from USA made steel) Press Plate is guaranteed for use on all presses up to 20 ton with an inside, front to back, bed gap of less than 4.5”.

The 3
Notches will center, cradle and align your workpiece providing 4 point contact with your workpiece.
We find this wide 4 point contact will better hold the workpiece vertically preventing misalignment and shaft or journal scoring.
Also more contact area reduces unit loading so there is less chance for damage to expensive bearings and workpieces.
