Description
Pair of two Benoit Chirat botanical floral prints, one featuring violets and the other of a Tiger lily and and daisies.The Artist was Benoit Chirat (1795-1870). He was an
18th Century French botanical artist, lithographer, and
textile designer working initially for the Lyons silk factory before settling in Paris in 1842. You will find his plate signature at the base of the foliage.
Frames measure 8" x10" x .5", and visible areas of art in the center of the matting measures 5" x 7".
Prints date from the 1940's by IBF Co, with Chirat's plate signature visible in the prints as well as the IBFCO logo. Framed under glass in vintage wooden frames shaped to look like bamboo, with matting printed to look like wood grain. No cracks in the glass. Paper that the prints are on have yellowed a little with age, but the prints are not very faded or washed out. Secure hanging wires on both frames. See photos for details.
