1976 Harley-Davidson FLH
29,489 Original Miles
Frame Number: 2A33373H6
Engine Number: 2A33373H6
This Harley-Davidson FLH started life as a police spec motorcycle, being used in the Kane County, Illinois Police Department until its retirement in the early 1980’s. It was purchased by the gentleman I bought it from. I acquired it from him approximately 15 years ago. It is a
matching
number and very correct and original motorcycle.
The condition of the bike is exactly what you see in the photos. I tried to take as many photos as possible to make sure whomever I passed this machine onto knows exactly what they are getting.
When I bought the bike, everything you see on the photos was present and installed, with the exception of the batwing faring and windshield and the tour pack, which was included with the sale. It was a very original bike overall, but the paint was a little rough. You could still see the sheriff’s department markings suntanned on the fairing and tanks.
The machine has 29,489 original miles on it, and is in perfect running condition. The top end was rebuilt just after I purchased the bike and a compression test was recently performed just to make sure everything was still dialed in. The cosmetic condition of the engine finishes, apart from some minor age freckling, is very nice, with the chrome, aluminum, and cast parts being particularly beautiful for their age.
I decided to paint the bike a few years ago, and disassembled the entire bike for the job, detailing every part I possibly could without removing the motor. The tanks, fairing, saddlebags, tour-pak, etc. were painted the correct Harley-Davidson Birch White, which is correct for the year and the model, and was the color which the bike would have been painted when it rolled off the factory floor.
I’ve kept every finish on the engine and frame original throughout my ownership
. When the top end was done, I installed the S&S carburetor you see in the photos for the sake of a little more speed and a smoother idle. I believe I still have the
original carb
, but I'm still looking through boxes. And since I don't throw anything away, I most likely still have it.
All of the body accessories, i.e. fairing, windshield, and tour-pak, are original Harley-Davidson parts, and are original to the machine. The solo seat is the original seat, and is in very nice condition, with no rips or tears evident.
The tires are Harley-Davidson thin whitewalls, and while they are technically aged out, they are still in very nice condition and are period correct to the bike. If you’re planning on riding this bike any distance, I would recommend changing them. I don’t ride much anymore, so I haven’t installed up to date tires. There are no cracks or dry rot anywhere on the front or rear tires, and they are still soft and pliable.
The cosmetic condition of this machine is just as good as it looks in the photos. Every finish on the machine is original. Except for the paint, no part of the bike has been re-finished.
The running condition of the machine is flawless, starting immediately.
This bike has been part of my collection for a while and is still ridden on a regular basis. It runs and rides with absolutely no issues. I have a video of the bike
running, and would be happy to send it to you, if requested.
