    Description

My 1957 Dodge Coronet D500 is for sale.  The car has its original 325ci Hemi, and is 99.9% complete.
I found this car in a field in Southeastern Colorado about three years ago, and have been steadily working on it since then.  Prior to my ownership it had sat there, unmoved, for over 20 years.
I've done a tremendous amount of mechanical work to it, as well as slowly addressing the rust that plagues these cars. It's never been my intention to "restore" the car, though if someone wanted to do that, very little of what I've done would need to be improved upon. My goal was to leave the car in it's original patina as best possible, and enjoy it in that state.
The original KD500 engine has been properly and professionally nut-and-bolt-rebuilt with top-quality parts and services from Egge and others.  ALL new bearings, seals, pistons, guides, valves, seats, etc.  The camshaft was reground by Delta to a stock solid lifter profile; solid lifters from Egge and Smith Bros adjustable pushrods were added to make this a proper solid lifter motor as they all should have been... Otherwise the engine is unmodified from original specifications.  Egge rebuilt the water pump and the fuel pump.  I did the original WCFB.  The transmission was rebuilt by local guru Ray Christensen. Gorgeous re-cored radiator by Carl $pike. Generator and starter restored by Doug at D&D Auto Electric. Rebuilt distributor, all new ignition components - Pertronix - and even an NOS vacuum advance pod.  All-new brakes - drums, shoes, cylinders, seals, hoses, master, etc. Driveshaft was overhauled with an NOS MoPar ball-and-trunion kit up front and a new U-joint from Bernbaum in the back. The car now starts, runs, drives and stops very well.
This is a Western car.  As such - overall - the car was not a rustbucket, but it did have isolated areas of concern as almost all of these do.  The outer rockers were replaced with NOS Schutt pieces, which in turn required rebuilding portions of the inner rocker with fresh steel. The trunk floor was very rusted and was painstakingly recreated to be solid once again, and also look reasonably correct and original. The last four feet of driver's quarter had been hit on the side and was replaced with original sheet metal from a donor vehicle.  Presently the car is very solid with almost zero filler, and only one spot on the passenger's side rocker and a few portions of the floor still needing addressed.
The list of little bits & things addressed is vast. NOS MoPar door switches. Lots of new wiring. NOS MoPar brake pedal. NOS manifold vacuum switch. NOS MoPar (not NORS) taillight lenses. NOS Carter choke pulloff.  All new bulbs, including headlights.  NOS wiper blades. Brand new windsheild. Brand new custom-made 15" wheels with the correct hubcap register, brand new radials. New fuel tank and sending unit.  New inner and outer tie-rod ends. New inner window fuzzies.  Trunk seal rail was cleans and re-bonded with 3M seam sealer.  New Clesters trunk weatherstrip. Etc...  The car is far from perfect and still needs a little more love for every last accessory to be 100%.  Speedometer and fuel gauge do not work for instance. Heater motor works but the hoses are not hooked up as I am not sure about heater core. Wiper motor is temperamental but I have a good donor motor, etc.  If you have serious interest in the car I can provide an extremely detailed list of positives and negatives.
As for the interior, the previous owner had traded a friend for the work, and then let it sit outside for 20+ years. It is good in some spots, warped and cooked a bit in others.  I personally prefer a 100% stock interior and find the styling of this one hideous, but it is comfortable and usable to enjoy the car until a proper interior can be acquired.
Clear Colorado title in my name. Spares and extras. I'm in Wheat Ridge, CO, USA.  Price is firm at this time.
